“IoT needs ecosystems to flourish. Everyone understands this and is, therefore, building an ecosystem. But the state of things reminds me of a joke sometimes made about standards. They are like toothbrushes – everybody has one, but nobody wants to use anyone else’s. The same can be said about ecosystems in IoT today and this issue plagues growth and development.

It is imperative to move from marketing to execution and create genuinely global ecosystems, integrated with a common platform, APIs and sharing of knowledge and information. After all, it is the ‘Internet of Things’ not the ‘Local Area Networks of Things’.”
