Dave Turnbull

Partner, Creative Planning

Dave is a Partner leading Creative Planning at Tyto. He has over a decade’s experience in agency and in-house roles, specialising in emerging technologies, telecoms and media. He’s passionate about the way technology impacts society, and the role communications plays in raising awareness and understanding of those technologies.

Prior to joining Tyto, Dave spent over 6 years at the BBC leading a number of high-profile PR campaigns for its digital and technology divisions. This ranged from launching new services and digital products for some of the UK’s most popular brands – including BBC iPlayer, News and Sport – to telling the story of BBC innovation through creative set-pieces and thought-leadership.

Dave also led external comms for the BBC’s Research & Development, experimental, and enterprise technology activity. In this role he developed strategic PR campaigns for major projects, partnerships and procurements, as well as the BBC’s first steps into virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, Ultra HD, 5G, and voice assistants. He also launched the BBC micro:bit, a major project between the BBC and 29 partners including ARM, Microsoft and Samsung, to help children learn essential computing skills.

Before this Dave led a range of telecoms and technology accounts at Hotwire, developing high-impact B2B and consumer campaigns in the UK and internationally. His client experience includes Vodafone, O2, Seagate, CommScope, Bigpoint and many others.

Dave’s colleagues love him for his strategic thinking, creativity and, occasionally, his sense of humour.
